La "riforma scolastica" attuale si è esplicata solo in un enorme taglio nei confronti dell'Istruzione nazionale.
I dati negativi dei livelli di apprendimento dei nostri alunni, e le cifre della dispersione scolastica, indicano l'esigenza di una vera riforma della scuola italiana. Da anni il sistema va avanti con circa un sesto degli insegnanti assunti a tempo determinato, per risparmiare sulle stabilizzazioni di questi lavoratori, e sicuramente questo non giova alla qualità dell'istruzione.
Il numero massimo degli alunni per classe è stato portato alla incredibile cifra di 30 e l'eliminazione delle ore a disposizione nelle scuole medie, senza prevedere tutte le concrete utilizzazioni degli insegnanti durante il corso dell'anno scolastico, ha generato perdite di ore che in alcune scuole si sono attestate, solo per il primo quadrimestre, al 5% del totale.
La classe docente italiana è la più anziana d'Europa, serve un ricambio, e invece viene innalzata l'età minima e massima del pensionamento e si ledono i diritti delle centinaia di migliaia di docenti precari, vincitori di concorso e scuole di specializzazione, formati dallo stesso Stato, e da anni lavoratori "precari" del sistema.
Le riduzioni delle ore di cattedre e la scomparsa di alcune materie, poi, per il prossimo anno, nelle scuole superiori, porteranno alla perdita di posti di lavoro anche fra i docenti di ruolo, di ogni ordine e grado di scuola.
